Ristorante Da Ugo, a Rockville Centre stalwart for old-school Italian food since 1993, has closed. A banner over the awning reads: "Coming soon: Antonette’s. Under new ownership. Same good food."
Exactly the same? No better than merely "good"? I'm hoping the current owners are aiming for a bit more excitement than I encountered on my last visit to Da Ugo, where it felt like 1993 would never end.
The restaurant's phone number still seems connected, but a call elicited neither an answer nor a voice-mail message.
