
Sal's Ristorante opens in Smithtown

Sal’s Ristorante replaces DiMaggio’s on Jericho Turnpike in Smithtown. The original DiMaggio’s in Port Washington is under separate ownership and is open.
Executive chef Pedro Alvarez, who cooked at both DiMaggio’s locations over the past years, offers an Italian menu featuring such dishes as sausage and zucchini with melted Gorgonzola ($8.95), pizzetta Napolitana ($9.50), spaghetti and meatballs ($12.95), chicken rosemary ($15.95) and pork chop with cherry peppers ($17.95).
Owner Sal Formica said he expects to offer as specials such authentic Southern Italian dishes as pan-fried rabbit, tripe, spaghetti pie and pizza rustica.
