Seafood restaurant Fishbar closes in Montauk
Fishbar, the Montauk restaurant that had ranked among Long Island’s top seafood houses since it opened nine years ago, has closed.
Dave’s Grill, also a Montauk seafood restaurant, is expected to take over the site and open Dave’s Gone Fishing, a small-plates spot.
Fishbar’s chef-owner, Jennifer Meadows, said, “We ended our lease” at Fishbar, at 467 E. Lake Dr., adding that she will continue to own and operate the casual Bliss MTK, near the Montauk traffic circle.
She’ll be in Montauk for the season. But Meadows and her family have relocated to Houston, where her husband now is an attorney with EY, formerly Ernst & Young.
Fishbar was on Newsday’s list of Long Island’s top 100 restaurants. Meadows’ specialties included fluke tartare, oven-roasted tilefish, New England-style clam chowder, steamed lobster, lobster rolls, and octopus escabeche with plantains.
