King Park, which has enjoyed a restaurant boom this past year,  will be getting a Tex-Mex addition after the New Year.  Watch for the January or February opening of Sombrero’s Southwest Grill, under the ownership of Mike Franchi, who also owns the nearby Dixie’s Smokehouse BBQ and Anderson’s Deli.

Franchi is still in the process of renovating what was once a dilapidated building, situated in the Southwestern corner of Dixie’s parking lot. Cosmetic changes to the exterior give it a hacienda-like appearance.

Inside, the place will offer about 25 seats and both table and counter service. In the manner of Chipotle Mexican Grill, people will be able to choose their ingredients by moving down a line. Or else order from a menu.

Right now, that menu is still being written. When it's done, Franchi says it will feature burritos and fajitas. Soft corn fish tacos, too. And, of course, a taco salad. He said he also expects to add a few Central American dishes once the place is up and running.

Sombrero’s Southwest Grill will be at 30 Indian Head Rd., off W. Meadow Rd, in Kings Park. No phone yet.
