A second location of Sufiya’s Grill with seating for 100 has opened on Merrick Road, in the former home of Nicholas James Bistro.
The restaurant is a sibling to the East Meadow location that debuted in 2013. The menu is identical, with Persian and Turkish dishes such as turshi — pickled vegetables, as well as sambuseh — crispy dumplings filled with chickpeas and vegetables, Turkish borek and Middle Eastern standards like falafel ($5.95 to $7.95).
Among entrees you might choose jujeh kebab — bone-in Cornish hen with lemon and saffron, as well as kubideh — a kebab with lamb and ground beef, served with rice and vegetables. (Prices range from $15.95 to $42.95 for a meat combination platter).
The new location is open Sundays through Thursdays, from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Sufiya’s Grill is at 2057 Merrick Rd. Merrick, 516-644-2201 and the original location is at 2320 Hempstead Tpke., East Meadow, 516-644-2200, sufiyasgrill.com
