Sur opens in former Huntington Canterbury Ales space
Sur, an Argentine-style steakhouse, has opened in Huntington at the site that housed Canterbury Ales for decades.
The new restaurant is the offspring of Tango Argentinian Steakhouse in Central Islip. The co-owners are Nicolas Kalaitzis, Osvaldo Sanchez, and Juan Reartes, who's also the chef.
Kalaitzis said they planned to bring to Huntington the more popular courses served in Central Islip.
Huntington already boasts Cafe Buenos Aires, an Argentine restaurant that earned a three-star rating in Newsday. Cafe Buenos Aires also offers a tapas bar.
Sur is open for lunch Monday to Friday, noon to 4 p.m., when a $10 menu is available; and for dinner Sunday to Wednesday until 10 p.m. and Thursday, Friday and Saturday, until midnight. Main dishes at dinner are in the $20 to $42 range.
Tango Argentinian Steakhouse has been open in Central Islip for 16 years. Canterbury Ales closed last August after more than 36 years in business.
