Taco Tuesday at Baja Grill in East Northport

The sign outside of Baja Grill in East Northport read “Taco Tuesday.” All tacos cost $2. Could there be creditable tacos at this very Northeastern Southwestern cafe? I had to taste for myself, so I ordered the "world famous" fried fish taco (with pico de gallo and spicy mayo) and a grilled shrimp taco. Although the menu said that only hard corn and soft flour tortillas were available, soft corn tacos were an option, I learned.
Should have stuck to the hard corn. The single ply tortilla crumbled the moment I picked up my taco (fork to the rescue), topped with entirely too much wet shredded romaine lettuce. Still, the fillings were lively enough.
Much better – if costlier, at $12.95 – was my companion’s entree, a zesty special called chicken Sanchez: sauteed boneless breasts, onions, peppers, chorizo and rum over saffron rice.
