Thai Basil, a new Thai restaurant, has opened in Lindenhurst with an emphasis on lunch specials.
In between Linden Florist and the Italian bakery Patsy’s & Son (a prime destination for rainbow cookies) the address had been home to Blimpie and Subway before it changed hands.
Lunch specials run from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and cost between $7.50 and $9.50 for bento boxes such as mango or spicy garlic chicken — served over white rice with a mini spring roll, a pork dumpling, soda or bottled water. Curries, vegetables, noodles and fried rice specials also fall within the same price range.
For dinner, you’ll find satay and spicy papaya salads, pad see yu and a handful of other noodle selections, coconut or basil fried rice. Entrees include lemongrass pork chop as well as whole fried snapper with chili, garlic and tamarind. There are also a handful of Vietnamese dishes, such as spring rolls.
Soup, salad and appetizers fall within the $4 to $9 range, noodles and fried rice are $9 to $11, entrees from $12 to $22.
Thai Basil is open Tuesday to Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 12:30 to 10 p.m. Closed Monday.
