The month-old Thai Coconut  in Wantagh was nearly full the afternoon I stopped in. A well-priced lunch menu ($6.95 to $9.95) was apparently drawing a hungry clientele to this snug little spot near the LIRR station.

The midday deal here is a bit unusual. Included in the price is a choice of canned soda, bottled water or a quartet of mini spring rolls. In the future, I'd opt for the liquids, having found the spring rolls pretty wan tasting.

There was plenty of flavor and nuance, though, in the spicy basil shrimp, which, while not fiery-hot, had a nice kick. The same held true of the drunken noodles, stir-fried broad rice noodles with chicken and vegetables. A green curry with eggplant and chicken, while thin, was shot through with flowery notes.

Thai Coconut is at 3266 Railroad Ave., Wantagh, 516-900-1168.
