The Water’s Edge Restaurant takes over the Glen Cove marina site that once hosted Steamboat Landing and, later, The Wharf at Steamboat Landing.
The new restaurant’s owner, Joe Weiser, built the original Steamboat Landing back in 1997. He owned the place for several years but sold it in 2001. In 2008, after the restaurant had been repossessed by a bank, Weiser returned to oversee repairs and run things. Now, he’s bought the place back and has renovated it, doing away with its tiki bar. His aim, he said, is to attract more of a family crowd. He said that prices are about 20 percent lower than they used to be in the site's previous incarnation.
Chef Tim Reddy, who was executive chef at the former Hideaway, in the same marina, offers an American menu with such items as crabcakes ($14), a burger ($10.95) and grilled tuna with cucumber salad ($24.95).
Water’s Edge Restaurant is at 74 Shore Rd., Glen Cove, 516-676-3300.
