Now blooming in Farmingdale: The Wild Rose Bar & Grill, newly opened in the freestanding building that last housed the short-lived Hudson House. Unlike its predecessor, which had its access blocked by months of roadwork, this place just north of Republic Airport on New Highway is easily reachable.

It's also outfitted with a full bar and shares ownership with the Rosewood Inn in Melville. It also offers many of the same items on its American-Continental menu, among them the Rosewood Caesar salad ($12), the Rosewood steak sandwich ($15.95) and the Rosewood cheeseburger ($11.95), as well as an entree called chicken Orlando ($15.95). Not surprisingly, The Wild Rose's chef, Anthony Capasso, also comes from the Rosewood Inn.

The place is open weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. but closes on Saturday and Sunday, except for private parties.

The Wild Rose Bar & Grill is at 1660 New Hwy., Farmingdale, 631-465-0886.
