Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery set to open first Long Island location in Farmingdale

Hooters will soon have a competitor in Farmingdale, complete with women (and a few men) in, um, tastefully worn kilts.
The first Long Island location of Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery, a Tempe, Arizona, chain restaurant that advertises itself as a Celtic-themed sports bar, has taken over the space that once housed Ruby Tuesday’s on Broad Hollow Road in Farmingdale.
Since opening its first location in 2003 at a casino in Las Vegas, the company has grown to more than 50 locations that feature scantily clad women in kilt skirts and men in tartans and a menu that is heavy on pub fare including burgers, chicken tenders, wings and fish and chips with kitschy names.
Think the “Double D Burger,” that features two deep fried patties, applewood smoked bacon and cheddar cheese, or the “Mother Clucker” chicken sandwich, breaded chicken breast fried and tossed in a spicy sauce and finished with lettuce, tomato and ranch dressing.
The Long Island outlet is owned by Amol Kohli, who has also opened locations in Staten Island, South Jersey and Central Pennsylvania and has the rights to open several more in Suffolk and Nassau counties.
Kohli and his team are in the process of gutting the Ruby Tuesday’s space to give it more of an Irish sports bar feel, complete with 40 flat screen TVs, 36 bar taps, including several that will be local, he said.
The space is scheduled to open some time in the summer.
