Tobay Beach in Massapequa to debut three new restaurants this summer
Three new restaurants will debut this summer at Tobay Beach in Massapequa: Crazy Oyster, Mango’s on the Bay and Tiki Beach.
Crazy Oyster takes over the old Seafood Shack and will serve a wide range of seafood classics: chilled lobster ($19.95 for half a lobster), Blue Point oysters on the half shell ($2 apiece), fried Ipswich clams (market), lobster roll ($22.95), a “crazy” burger with bacon and lobster mac ’n’ cheese ($20.95), linguine with clam sauce ($21.95) and seared tuna ($26.95) among them.
Mango’s on the Bay, succeeding Salsa Shack, will serve Mexican and pan-Latino items such as guacamole made table-side ($12.95), chicken flautas ($8.95), Cuban sandwich ($17.95), short rib tacos (3 for $21.95) and grilled salmon over Tuscan kale with chorizo and poblano cream ($24.95).
Both full-service restaurants are on the bay. Tiki Beach, on the ocean side of the Town of Oyster Bay beach, will be more drinks-oriented, with bar snacks.
All three restaurants will be run by Carlyle Catering, which also operates Carlyle on the Green in Bethpage State Park in Plainview, among other venues.
Carlyle was awarded the concessions at Tobay after the town severed its relationship with indicted former concessionaire Harendra Singh. (Read more about the disposition of former Singh properties here.)
Dennis Borysowski, general manager for the Tobay Beach operation, said that all three establishments should be open in early June. For Memorial Day weekend, Crazy Oyster will be serving a limited seafood menu.
Crazy Oyster is in the Toby Beach Marina, 1 Ocean Pkwy., Massapequa.
