Tullulah's, Bay Shore, is reborn

Tullulah’s in Bay Shore, which has been closed for nine months, reopens Thursday,  Aug. 8, following a major makeover and growth spurt.

“We went from 600 to 3600 square feet,” said chef-owner Steven Scalesse, whose wife, Nicole Scalesse, is responsible for the restaurant's redesign. Now the place has two separate dining rooms, a front room and a bar area as well as outdoor seating.

Scalesse offers what he called an “ever-changing” menu of small plates meant for sharing. He draws on local and artisanal ingredients. Currently being featured: a summer salad with roasted candy cane beets, green plums, arugula ($11), crispy burrata with spicy heirloom tomato jam ($11) and compressed suckling pig ($15).

In addition to a comprehensive wine and beer list, the restaurant offers two wines and 13 brews on tap. The place also has a full roster of liquors.
