Umberto’s of New Hyde Park has opened another location, this one in Bellmore, in the former digs of Tommy’s Village Pizzeria.

John Ioannou, who worked at Umberto's in New Hyde Park, is partner in this new venture with the Corteo family. (It was Umberto Corteo, and his brother Joe, who opened the original New Hyde Park location in 1965.)

As in New Hyde Park, the newest Umberto’s menu offers big portions of classic Italian-American specialties at reasonable prices, along with Neapolitan, Sicilian, Grandma and specialty pizzas. Ioannou said he plans to install a wood-burning oven alongside the classic deck oven; that will be a first for any Umberto’s.

Umberto’s of Bellmore is at 208 Bedford Ave., Bellmore, 516-409-1400.
