Uva Rossa — Italian for red grape — is the name of the wine bar and small plates restaurant that opened last night in the Malverne space that, for over 30 years, hosted Cork N Board.

Chef owner Antonio Bove, who hails from Caserta, near Naples, also owns  Il Villagio Trattoria Italiana, as well as Antonio's Italian American Deli, both also in Malverne.

Bove said that at Uva Rossa, his menu of shareable dishes represents both the North and South of Italy. Choices include grilled clams with ginger and lemon ($9.50), a Toscano panino of porchetta, arugula and pecorino ($8.50), meatball, lobster or crab meat salad sliders ($3.50 each), pappardelle with veal ragu ($13.50), and an entree of shrimp sauteed with leeks and prosciutto ($18.50). There are also several stuzzichini, or small snacks, such as prosciutto-wrapped dates stuffed with manchego cheese ($6.50) and grilled Brussels sprouts ($6.50). More options: meat or cheese plates ($12 to $20) and bruschette (3 for $13; 5 for $20).

A comprehensive wine list features wines by the glass, bottle and half bottle.

Uva Rossa is at 243 Hempstead Ave., Malverne, 516-612-7400.
