Wading River: A special lobster special
Tonight, and every Monday night this summer, La Plage is offering an original and very tempting lobster special. And no one is just throwing a steamed 1¼-pound lobster at you along with an ear of corn and a red potato or two. No, this is a menu that explores the essence of lobster’s versatility. To wit:
First Course
Fresh lobster and heirloom-tomato ceviche
or
Lobster bisque with Parmesan gougeres
or
Lobster wrapped in daikon with ponzu sauce and lobster roe
Second Course
Lobster Bolognese with black tagliatelle
or
Butter-poached lobster tail and filet mignon with truffled mashed potatoes and local spinach
or
Grilled lobster satay with baby bok choy, roasted peppers, spicy coconut emulsion
Third Course
Local strawberry shortcake
or
Fresh orange and mascarpone
or
Napoleon with bittersweet chocolate sorbet
or, enigmatically
Tahitian vanilla lobster ice-cream sundae
The price: $45 plus tax and tip. And, making this even more attractive: bring your own wine.
La Plage is at 131 Creek Rd. Wading River, 631-744-9200.
