AARP hosts talk on making LI age-friendly
Long Island saw huge growth in the 1960s as it welcomed young adults looking to raise families and enjoy their lives in a suburb. But for many, the same features that made Long Island so livable then make life challenging now.
Suffolk County and AARP have teamed to find ways to make Long Island an age-friendly community that would make housing, health care and transportation more accessible to older adults.
AARP is sponsoring a discussion with lawmakers, educators, health care professionals and community groups hoping to make the age-friendly community a reality. The event is Tuesday, noon-2 p.m. at the Hamptons Dance Authority, 425 County Rd. 39A, Southampton.
The discussion and a light lunch are free, but reservations are required. Call 631-283-1488 or email info@hamptonsAARP.org
