If you've been considering upgrading your computer to Windows 8 but have been concerned about the much-publicized "learning curve," a free workshop may help you decide if the new operating system is right for you.

The workshop, a partnership of Microsoft, computer book publisher Que Publishing and SeniorNet, offers hands-on training using Microsoft's new Surface tablet, which will be provided for the training.

There are several chances to attend the one-hour workshop, to be offered at the Microsoft Store in the Walt Whitman Shops in Huntington Station at 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 and 3 p.m. both Monday and Tuesday.

Reservations are required. Call 631-427-3700, ext. 268 or 235.
