Joe Franklin brings nostalgia to WGBB

To commemorate his 65 years in the entertainment field, Joe Franklin will reminisce about his career on Babylon-based radio station WGBB/1240 AM next Saturday, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., as a special guest on "Streetwise" with Lou Telano. Credit: Getty Images
In 1948, Joe Franklin was a teenager just starting his decades-long show business career that has included a long-running TV talk show, countless radio broadcasts, appearances in several movies and books about silent-screen stars and comedians.
To commemorate his 65 years in the entertainment field, Franklin will reminisce about his career on Babylon-based radio station WGBB/1240 AM next Saturday, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., as a special guest on "Streetwise" with Lou Telano. Freeport resident Richard Ornstein, Franklin's longtime producer and sidekick, will join the nostalgia fest. "The Joe Franklin Show," which featured interviews with entertainers, last aired in 1993.
Franklin, who, by most reports, turned 87 in March (he has always insisted he was born in 1929, which would make him only 84), is still a regular contributor to "Bloomberg on the Weekend," the radio magazine heard locally on WBBR/1130 AM.
