A St. James teen was killed and another man was critically injured after they were found Tuesday morning in a crashed vehicle in Stony Brook.

A sanitation worker called police at 7:17 a.m. to report an overturned 2004 GMC that had struck a tree on Stony Brook Road near North Country Road. Police found two men unconscious inside and took them by ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital, Suffolk County police said.

Patrick Kelly, 19, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other man was listed in critical condition and his name was not released, police said.

Police are still investigating who was driving at the time of the crash. The vehicle was impounded as part of the investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Sixth Squad detectives at 631-852-8652.
