A Brentwood man was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison for killing his cousin and attempting to kill the man’s girlfriend, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said Wednesday.

Wilson Felipe Andrade-Molina, 38, of Brentwood, was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision for fatally stabbing his cousin and stabbing his cousin’s girlfriend multiple times in front of her 21-year-old son, authorities said.

“While this sentence cannot undo the pain and suffering caused, we hope it provides some measure of closure to the victims and their families,” Tierney said in a news release.

Andrade-Molina and his cousin, Miguel Andrade-Cando, 38, worked together as machinists at Electronic Machine Parts in Hauppauge. During the course of a three-week trial, prosecutors said that at approximately 7:22 a.m. on March 30, surveillance video captured Andrade-Molina arriving at work shortly before Andrade-Cando. Minutes after his cousin arrived for work, Andrade-Molina fatally stabbed him in the neck, authorities said.

The owner of the business discovered Andrade-Cando on the floor, dead, in a pool of blood, the district attorney’s release said.

Police and prosecutors said Andrade-Molina then left the factory and headed to his cousin’s Brentwood home where the man lived with his girlfriend, Santa Pena, and her 21-year-old son. Authorities said Andrade-Molina stabbed Pena with a knife approximately nine times.

Prosecutors said Pena’s son awoke to the sound of her screams as she was attacked. When her son tried to help her, prosecutors said Andrade-Molina advanced toward him with a knife and threatened him. Andrade-Molina then continued to stab Pena before fleeing the scene.

Prosecutors said Pena sustained life-threatening injuries, including a lacerated liver, punctures to her diaphragm and lungs, and lacerations to her arm, her shoulder, her breasts and her torso.

Suffolk County police said they arrested Andrade-Molina in Bay Shore soon after the attack on Pena.

Newsday previously reported that during opening statements, prosecutors said Andrade-Molina

searched the internet for “How many years do you get for homicide?” the night before he carried out both attacks.

On May 23, a jury found Andrade-Molina guilty of second-degree murder, second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault. Andrade-Molina was represented by Central Islip-based defense attorney Steven Politi.

Judge Timothy Mazzei issued Andrade-Molina’s sentence at Suffolk County Court in Riverhead on Wednesday.

“Our thoughts are with those affected by this tragedy as they continue to heal,” Tierney said in the release.
