Suffolk County police on Monday arrested a Bohemia man in connection with a bank robbery they said he committed shortly before his apprehension.

Michael Sullivan, 29, was charged with two counts of robbery after he presented a note demanding cash at People’s United Bank, 3460 Veterans Memorial Hwy., at 11:30 a.m., Major Case Unit detectives said.

Witnesses at the bank described the white sedan he allegedly used as a getaway car, and officers stopped him about 30 minutes later near the intersection of Sycamore Avenue and the Sunrise Highway North Service Road, said Det. Sgt. James Brierton of the Major Case Unit.

The detectives later identified Sullivan as the man responsible for robbing the People’s United Bank in Babylon on Thursday.

Police declined to detail the amount taken in either robbery. “We are hoping to recover the cash,” Brierton said.

Sullivan was held at the Fifth Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.
