Police identified the pedestrians as Nasheem Beck, 25, of Central Islip, and Gina Ross, 34, also of Central Islip. They were taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, police said.
Police said they were struck by a dark-colored sedan that was headed west on Suffolk Avenue at its intersection with Hawthorne Avenue at about 10:20 p.m.
Major Case Unit Detectives believe the vehicle is possibly maroon with front-end damage, police said.
