A 25-year-old Farmingdale man was arrested and charged with assault after punching and stabbing a restaurant worker who tried to get him to leave, Nassau police said Saturday.

Joseph DiGennaro “was involved in a disturbance” at the restaurant, That Meetball Place in Farmingdale, at 2:38 a.m., the police said in a statement.

The worker, a 39-year old man, was taken to a hospital after DiGennaro punched him in the face and stabbed him twice in the back with a four-inch knife, the statement said.

DiGennaro, who was arrested “without incident” at the restaurant, also was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

His arraignment is set for Dec. 18 at the First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
