An East Meadow man peddling police-related merchandise at a flea market has been charged with criminal sale of a police uniform, Nassau County police said Monday.
Officers went to the Bellmore Flea Market on Pettit Avenue on Sunday afternoon in response to a complaint that a man was selling police badges, police said.
The officers found a table with numerous replicas of police badges from a number of police agencies, police patches, and ambulance worker uniforms from various fire departments, police said.
Howard Kaminowitz, 67, of Cadillac Drive, was given a misdemeanor summons to appear Sept. 25 in First District Court in Hempstead to face the charge of criminal sale of a police uniform, police said.
The charge includes the sale of badges, insignias or other items that would identify the wearer as a police officer.
Kaminowitz did not immediately respond to a message left at a telephone number listed in his name.
