A Deer Park man randomly fired at occupied homes and parked vehicles in his neighborhood after taking his father’s .45-caliber pistol, Suffolk County police said yesterday.

Authorities arrested Cameron Cincotta, 25, on Monday night and charged him with three misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief and three counts of felony first-degree reckless endangerment. Police said the motive is unclear.

“This individual . . . decided to terrorize this neighborhood, and since then the community has been on edge,” Police Commissioner Timothy Sini said.

No injuries were reported as a result of the Saturday morning shooting spree, police said. In one instance, a bullet penetrated a house, striking a recliner, according to Sini.

Cincotta, who police said admitted to the shooting, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for a psychological evaluation.

Police said Cincotta took his father’s legally registered gun without his father’s knowledge and about 6:30 a.m. fired at two homes on Fairview Avenue and another on Oakland Avenue. He then fired at a 1999 Mercedes-Benz, a 2007 Lexus and a 2004 Chevrolet.

Cincotta drove a Volkswagen Passat during the spree, police said, adding that the vehicle was identified from residents’ security videos.

Cincotta’s father declined to comment Tuesday. Records show Cameron Cincotta was convicted of misdemeanor petty larceny in June 2010.

Authorities are in the process of revoking Cincotta’s father’s gun license, issued in February 2010, because he failed to notify Suffolk police that a person with a criminal record lived in his home, Sini said.
