Developments in the Parente murder-suicide case
PROBE BEGINS. The FBI has opened an investigation into William Parente's financial dealings after numerous complaints from investors to Baltimore County police.
HOW THEY DIED. Baltimore County police disclose William Parente killed his wife and two daughters by "blunt force trauma and asphyxiation" at a Towson, Md., hotel before committing suicide. Police said he cut himself and bled to death in the bathroom of his room on the 10th floor.
GRIEF ON LI. A constant stream of people, including friends and some family members, visit the Parente home on First Street in Garden City to leave flowers and plants, stuffed animals and a poster.
PLANS TO MAKE. Parente family members try to make funeral arrangements and bring the four bodies home to Nassau County.
REACHING OUT. The Garden City school district offers counseling for parents and students at the high school library for those struggling with their grief.
