Police: Traffic stop leads to drug arrests of Greenport men
Two Greenport men were arrested on felony drug charges after a traffic stop early Thursday in Riverhead, State Police said.
State troopers stopped a speeding 2011 Hyundai Sonata that was failing to maintain its lane on Sound Avenue near Pennys Road at about 2:35 a.m., police said in a news release.
The driver, Karon D. Grant, 32, and passenger, Fredrick D. Grace, 28, both of Greenport, “were found to be in possession of” cocaine, heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police said.
Both men were charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal use of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.
Grant also was charged with “numerous vehicle and traffic law violations,” police said.
The men were to be arraigned at Town of Riverhead court.
