One man dead, another hurt in Freeport shooting, Nassau police say
Two men were found shot, one fatally, Saturday afternoon in a Freeport park, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
Officers found the shooting victims — aged 21 and 19 — at about 4:30 p.m. in Martin Luther King, Jr. Park on Stevens Street following a 911 call, police said.
Both were brought to a hospital, police said Saturday, where the 21-year-old died, and the 19-year-old was in stable condition.
Police on Wednesday identified the 21-year-old as Taffarie Haughton of Freeport.
The "investigation into the incident continues," according to a department news release issued Saturday night about the shooting.
Police did not say whether anyone is a suspect, provide a possible motive or disclose any other details about the case.
