Glen Cove attorney charged with heroin possession, cops say
A Glen Cove attorney has been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance believed to be heroin after police say they found nearly 35 grams of the deadly narcotic in his trunk during a traffic stop, according to online records.
Eric A. Pack, 38, of Prospect Avenue, was arraigned on two counts of third-degree possession of a controlled substance, according to a felony complaint. Pack was also issued traffic citations for driving while his license is suspended or revoked and failure to use a turn signal.
He was ordered held on a $75,000 bond or $50,000 cash bail at his arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead, according to the Nassau District Attorney's office. He entered a plea of not guilty and is due back in court Tuesday.
Pack declined to comment Monday. . According to the state court system, Pack is a graduate of Touro College's law school and has been a registered attorney in New York since 2009 and has "no record of public discipline."
His defense attorney Camille Russell called the allegations against her client “absolutely untrue.”
Pack is a “well respected attorney in Nassau County, in the city,” said Russell, of Westbury. “He is in good standing with the bar. He looks forward to his day in court.”
According to court documents, Glen Cove police arrested Pack on Thursday at about 9:20 a.m. on Brewster Street in Glen Cove for driving without a license and "multiple Glen Cove court warrants."
During an "inventory search" of the 2016 Honda Accord , police found a leather handbag in the trunk containing 34.8 grams of heroin, according to the felony complaint. The "tan rock-like substance" was in a clear sandwich bag, the complaint said. Police believe, according to the complaint, that Pack "possessed the alleged heroin with the intent to sell because of the weight not being consistent with personal use."
A Glen Cove police spokesman did not return a message Monday.
