A man sitting in a parked vehicle Thursday afternoon in Central Islip was stabbed by a suspect in a "Halloween mask" who opened the driver's side door and attacked, Suffolk County police said.

At about 4:10 p.m., police said in a news release late Thursday, the victim was seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked in a lot outside 159 Brightside Ave. The suspect approached the vehicle before stabbing the man. Police did not release the victim's identity.

Police did not provide additional information about the attack, including a description of the suspect or the type of Halloween mask he was wearing.

Late Thursday, police said the stabbing victim was treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and that the suspect remained at large.
