A Brentwood man pleaded not guilty Saturday to charges related to a hit-and-run crash that left a motorcyclist dead earlier this week, public records show.

Manuel Gomez, 46, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, for the Monday crash, during his arraignment in Central Islip.

Bail was set at $80,000 cash, $160,000 insured bond, or $800,000 partially secured surety bond. He will remain in custody until his bail is posted, according to his lawyer, Stephen Wade LaMagna

LaMagna said, "My client and his family are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life . . . My client is a father himself and he prays for the victim and his family."

Police said Gomez was driving a 2008 Ford Explorer when he made a left turn in front of motorcyclist Eloy Khammach La Cruz Andres, of Brentwood, at 7:22 p.m. The vehicles collided and La Cruz Andres was thrown from the bike, which erupted in flames. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
