8 people shot at Wyandanch house party; 1 person killed, Suffolk police say
Eight people were shot — one fatally — at a Wyandanch house party early Saturday, Suffolk County police said, adding that the violence was gang-related.
Police had initially said seven people were shot. Police have also now determined that a stabbing in which one person was hurt was unrelated to the shooting.
Suffolk law enforcement officers said they were alerted to the shooting on Grand Boulevard by multiple 911 calls about 1:30 a.m.
The identity of the man who was killed has not been released. He was pronounced dead at a hospital, police said.
The other victims — six men and one woman — were taken to hospitals for treatment. Two of the men are in serious condition, police said.
Detectives ask anyone with information to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
