Nassau County police are investigating an incident in which three men in a vehicle collided with another driver in Lawrence, then two of them stole his car, police said.

At 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, the 54-year-old victim, driving the Honda Civic, was involved in a collision with a light green sedan with three men inside near the intersection of Rockaway Turnpike and Rugby Road. The three men got out of the sedan after the crash and “initiated a verbal argument with the victim, resulting in them getting into a physical altercation,” police said in a news release.

The victim was taken out of the Honda Civic and two of the men entered his vehicle and drove off. The third man went back into the sedan and also fled.

Police said both vehicles were last seen driving northbound on Rockaway Turnpike. There were no injuries reported.

The investigation is ongoing, and police ask anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or call 911. All callers will remain anonymous
