A 64-year-old Levittown woman attacked in her bed during an early morning break-in in early June has died, Nassau County police said Tuesday.

Police identified the victim as Linda Levy, an attorney who practiced out of her home, according to neighbors and public records. She died Thursday while still in the hospital being treated for the injuries from the attack, officials said.

Nassau detectives responding to a call about a home invasion on June 9 at 2:30 a.m. found Levy with injuries to her face and head from the attack, the police said.

Investigators said the unknown assailant may have broken into Levy’s home and attacked her with an unidentified object as she slept.

The suspect fled the scene and police are still investigating.

Emergency responders took Levy to a hospital, but she died on Aug. 8, police said.

Neighbors said Levy lived alone and would say hello, but otherwise kept to herself.

Residents said the death of Levy has the block on edge.

"The police didn't tell us anything," resident Robert Kocarnik,, who lives across the street from Levy's house. "I don't know what's going on.

Detectives said the investigation is ongoing. Police declined to answer questions about the case Tuesday.
