Lindenhurst woman drove drunk, crashed; son hurt, cops say

A Lindenhurst woman has been charged with drunken driving following a crash Saturday night in the village in which her 9-year-old son was injured, Suffolk County police said.
According to a police report, Roxanne Simonetti was driving a 2012 Jeep Liberty North on Centre Avenue at about 11:15 a.m. when the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a pole in front of 154 Centre Ave.
Simonetti’s 9-year-old son was in the vehicle, and suffered minor injuries, the report said, but he did not go to a hospital and was released to a family member.
Simonetti, 49, was charged under Leandra’s Law with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger 15 years old or younger, driving while intoxicated, and endangering the welfare of a child. She is scheduled for arraignment Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.
