Mario Corvasce, of Holbrook, accused of racially harassing Hispanic woman
A Holbrook man, who shouted at a Hispanic woman using racially offensive language earlier this month and then followed her in a threatening manner, was arrested on Monday, Suffolk County police said.
Mario Corvasce, 64, of Broadway Avenue, was arrested by Hate Crimes Unit detectives on Monday morning after a near monthlong investigation and charged with second-degree aggravated harassment. Corvasce, police said. He was issued a desk appearance ticket and will be arraigned at a later date.
Police said the victim, whom police did not identify, was walking her dog outside an apartment complex on Broadway Avenue in Holbrook shortly before 10 a.m. on Oct. 1 when Corvasce shouted racially offensive language at her.
As the victim attempted to walk away, authorities said, Corvasce followed her, raising his fist toward her in a threatening manner.
The dispute, police said, ended before the confrontation escalated.
