A Cold Spring Harbor man who worked as a recruiter for the Connecticut School of Broadcasting stole more than $220,000 in student funds that should have gone to the school, Nassau County police said.

Peter Burke, 53, was arrested without incident at 7 a.m. Thursday at his home on Poplar Place, police said.

Burke worked at the Westbury office of Dick Robinson Media, police said. The company is the corporate owner of the Connecticut School of Broadcasting.

Burke had worked recruiting and enrolling students and handled student accounts, police said.

He pocketed the money between March 1, 2013, and Jan. 13, 2017, police said.

A woman who answered the telephone Thursday at the company’s Westbury office declined to comment.

Burke pleaded not guilty to second-degree grand larceny at his arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead.

“As he has done for months, in the civil context, Mr. Burke will aggressively defend this allegation,” his Garden City attorney Brian J. Griffin said in a statement.
