A woman was slashed in the face with a knife at Roosevelt Field mall in Uniondale in what Nassau County police described Tuesday as a targeted attack.

The 20-year-old woman was walking on the second floor of the mall at 4:20 p.m. Monday when she was struck in the face by a male attacker, according to detectives from the Major Case Bureau.

After she was struck, the woman noticed a knife in the hand of the suspect, who fled the scene, police said.

The victim suffered a large cut to her left cheek and was taken to a hospital for treatment, authorities said.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS or to call 911. All callers will remain anonymous.
