A Levittown man driving east in Babylon Wednesday afternoon was killed after a westbound motorist swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid hitting a stalled vehicle and struck his sedan, Suffolk police said.

Brian McHugh, 65, was pronounced dead later at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip after the crash about 1:35 p.m., police said.

McHugh had been driving a 2003 Saturn Ion west on West Main Street when the 2002 Chevy Silverado swerved into traffic and struck the Saturn, police said in a news release. The driver of the Silverado was not hurt, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
