A 24-year-old North Amityville man was arrested and charged with drunken driving following a crash in Islip on Thursday that seriously injured a 20-year-old woman in his car, police said.

Suffolk County police said the woman, identified as Aliyah King, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore with “serious” injuries. Her condition was not immediately known.

Police said Tevin Allen was driving a 2018 Nissan eastbound on Sunrise Highway, about a half-mile west of Commack Road, when he lost control and struck a median at 1:17 a.m.

Allen was charged with driving while intoxicated.  He was arraigned in Suffolk First District Court on Thursday and released on his own recognizance, according to court records. His next court date is scheduled for Oct. 4.
