A Valley Stream man faces multiple charges after he alllegedly refused to leave a Long Island hospital and got into a fight with police, Nassau police said.

The incident began about 11 a.m. Monday at NYU Langone Hospital when Christopher Piccoli, 37, was involved in a verbal argument with a woman, police said. The man was not a patient, police said.

When authorities intervened, Piccoli refused to leave the hospital and police were called. When officers attempted to arrest him, police said Piccoli became violent and combative.

Police then used an electronic control device, or Taser, to subdue Piccoli and took him into custody.

Two officers suffered minor injuries and were treated at the hospital, police said. Piccoli was taken to a different hospital for evaluation, police said.

Piccoli is charged with two counts of second-degree assault, third-degree criminal trespass, and resisting arrest, police said. Piccoli was scheduled for arraignment Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead but as of the late afternoon, he had not made an appearance, according to court records.
