SPENDING $54,850,656, a 3.42 percent increase from the current $53,035,604.

TAX LEVY 2.13 percent increase, from $41,815,264 to $42,706,928. This is equal to the district's 2.13 percent tax-cap limit, so a simple majority vote is required for approval.

TEACHER PAY / PROGRAMS Includes a 1.75 percent contractual increase and an average step increase of 1.6 percent. The proposed budget adds one assistant principal, one full-time library and media specialist; one full-time foreign-language elementary school teacher and one full-time elementary teacher for science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics.

PROPOSITIONS

Proposition 2 authorizes the expenditure of up to $500,000 from a capital reserve fund established in May 2015. The expenditures would pay for costs associated with step replacement and installation of a handicap ramp at Babylon High School's Rowe Hall; for bathroom renovations at the high school; and for replacement of hallway doors in the third- and fourth-grade wing of Babylon Memorial Grade School.
