BUDGET

SPENDING $70,274,817, a 2.64 percent increase from the current $68,466,684. 

TAX LEVY 2.94 percent increase, from $63,010,283 to $64,861,519. This is equal to the district’s 2.94 percent tax-cap limit, so a simple majority vote is required for approval.

TEACHER PAY / PROGRAMS Includes a 1.25 percent contractual increase and an average step increase of 1.55 percent. The proposed budget includes funding for more security personnel and physical security measures; flexible furniture and seating options, at all levels, to promote collaboration and research; expansion of the "Science 21" program to grade 3; introduction of coding in grades four, five, six and eight; and continuation of other academic, staff development and extracurricular measures.

PROPOSITIONS

Proposition 2 seeks approval to withdraw $500,000 from the capital reserve fund to complete security upgrades and for reconstruction of the physical education locker rooms at the Junior/Senior High School Field House. Approval of the proposition will not affect the tax levy.

Incumbent Amelia Brogan and Julie Starrett are running unopposed for two seats, elected at-large. Incumbent Lizabeth Squicciarini is not seeking re-election. Terms are three years.
