Bellport school evacuated after anonymous bomb threat, officials say
Frank P. Long Intermediate School in Bellport received a bomb threat Friday morning, forcing students to be evacuated, officials said. A search by police found no bomb.
The threatening voicemail came in at 8 a.m., Suffolk County police said. Officers from the Fifth Precinct, canine and emergency service sections searched the school and found nothing, police said.
Students and staff were transported to nearby Bellport Middle School and were to stay there for the remainder of classes, intermediate school Principal Stefanie Rucinski said in a message to parents. The intermediate school's transportation was routed to the middle school, where students were dismissed.
