Longwood Middle School’s principal, Daniel McKeon, has been placed on “administrative reassignment,” the district's superintendent said in a statement Thursday.
Superintendent Lance Lohman said Lisa Mato, a previous principal at the school, “is serving as interim principal to ensure the continuity of leadership and support for our students, staff and families.”
The district “is committed to providing a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment for all of our students, staff and families,” Lohman said. “We take each and every one of our school community’s concerns very seriously and address them in accordance with district policies, procedures and the applicable state and federal laws.”
District officials cannot comment on personnel matters, he said, adding, “We remain focused on the success and well-being of each one of our students and are appreciative of the strong partnership with our community in support of our students, staff and families.”
McKeon become principal of Longwood Middle School in 2023, according to an announcement by the district at the time. Mato retired as assistant to the superintendent the same year, after working in the district for 22 years, the district said. She was principal of Longwood Middle School from 2004 until 2016, the district said.
McKeon's salary was $148,892 in the 2023-24 school year, public records show. He could not be immediately reached Friday and did not respond to messages left at two numbers listed for him.
