Kenneth E. Graham, an assistant superintendent in the Long Beach school district, was named Sachem’s new chief at a school board meeting Wednesday night.

Graham, 43, will succeed Sachem’s current superintendent, James Nolan, on July 1.

“I’m proud to be a Sachem Arrow, Graham told an audience of more than 100 parents, students and others at the school board meeting. The district’s emblem is a flaming arrow.

Graham, whose selection was supported unanimously by board trustees, has served since 2013 as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction in Long Beach.

Prior to that, he spent nearly 20 years as a science teacher, science director and coach in the same district.
