Proving Innocence: The Story of Keith Bush

Keith Bush was a 17-year-old junior at Bellport High School when Suffolk authorities charged him with killing Sherese Watson, 14, after a late-night house party in North Bellport. For the past 44 years, Keith Bush has claimed he was an innocent man, ever since he was accused and convicted of the 1975 Suffolk County sex-related murder.  Credit: Newsday

Newsday won a record 11 New York Emmys for multimedia packages Saturday night — topping its 2018 high of nine awards.

The winners were announced by the New York chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences during an event that lacked an in-person audience because of the COVID-19 pandemic but was livestreamed online.

Newsday was honored for work in several categories including Interactive Media, Crime-News, and Environment/Science Long-Form Content. Newsday had received a total of 23 nominations.

"It was a record-breaking night for our Newsday team and I’m incredibly proud of them and the work that was honored. It represents our deep coverage of such important issues on Long Island," said Debby Krenek, publisher of Newsday.

The academy’s board of governors also recognized Dr. Anthony Fauci with the first-ever New York Chapter President’s Award.
