63 Suffolk beaches closed to bathing due to high bacteria levels, health officials say
Runoff from heavy rainfall has caused the Suffolk County Department of Health Services to issue an advisory against bathing at 63 area beaches, officials announced Wednesday.
The advisory will remain in effect through Thursday at 7 a.m., unless sampling reveals continued elevated levels of bacteria.
The beaches affected are:

Tanner Park, Copiague;
Venetian Shores Beach, West Babylon;
Sound Beach POA East, Sound Beach POA West, Scotts Beach and Tides Beach, Sound Beach;
Beech Road Beach, Broadway Beach, Terraces on the Sound, and Friendship Drive Beach, Rocky Point;
Shoreham Village Beach, Shoreham;
Shoreham Beach and Shoreham Shore Club Beach, East Shoreham;
Corey Beach, Blue Point;
Stony Brook Beach, Stony Brook;
Miller Place Park Beach, Miller Place;
Bayberry Cove Beach, Bayview Beach,
Grantland Beach, Indian Field Beach and Little Bay Beach, Setauket-East Setauket;
Soundview Beach Association Beach, Old Field;
